LEICESTER star Ryan Douglas is continuing preparations for his Testimonial Meeting – and is delighted with progress so far.
The big event takes place at the Hydroscand Arena, Beaumont Park on Saturday March 22 (4pm) as Douglas celebrates his UK career so far, which started back in 2013 at Scunthorpe.
It’s set to be the perfect prelude to the Watling JCB Lions’ team campaign, which gets underway at Birmingham in the KO Cup on March 24.
Former Australian Champion and Oxford No.1 Rohan Tungate has been added to a line-up which already includes several top stars, with 2017 World Champion Jason Doyle another to have been named this week.
Douglas said: “It’s an honour to have Doyley in my meeting. I really look up to him and his professionalism in the sport – he’s an all-round good bloke.
“Rohan had a good return to British Speedway last season, and it’s good to have another Aussie mate in my meeting.
“The line-up is starting to come together, thanks to the legends who have agreed to ride, with more announcements coming soon.”
Doyle and Tungate are so far joined by newly crowned Australian Champion Brady Kurtz, Lions vice-captain Sam Masters, Polish ace Tobiasz Musielak and GB star Lewis Kerr who had a spell with Leicester in 2023.
The meeting will take place over a full 16-rider, 20-heat Individual format, and it will then be decided with the top two advancing to the Final and the next four to the semi, as is the case at the British Final.
There will also be two demonstration races apiece from riders in the 125cc and 250cc sections of the British Youth Championship.
